Home to one of the darkest and cleanest nightsky in the world, the Atacama Desert offers views into space like no other. 9 years after the very successful first video "Nox Atacama", clear views into the universe can not be taken for granted anymore: Satellite constellations and expendanding industrial sites threaten the darkness even in this remote corner of the world. Filmed over a month in April 2026, I worked in freezing temperatures down to -10°C, altitudes up to 5600m/18350ft, salt lakes and sulfur deposits. The Atacama is not welcoming to life and equipment. The lack of oxygen makes it tough to get anything done in these high altitudes. But it provides without doubt for epic and vast vistas of one of the greatest landscapes on earth.
